$1/$2 6-max online, 6 players
1 fold, TAG villain raises from MP, all fold to me in the BB where I 3-bet with 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], villain caps and I call. Flop comes A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. I check-raise, villain 3-bets, I call planning to check-raise the turn. Turn comes 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] I check-raise and villain 3-bets again. Take him to cap city? Is the flop line just stupid? |

I might bet the turn but it looks okay. I'm not putting any more raises in when he 3-bets the turn though.

Maybe it's a bad line, but I use it quite a bit. My thinking is capping the flop says big hand while simply check/raising the flop might be trying to force Villain off of KK-JJ or being any ace. Capping the flop may shut down anything other than AA and get you 2BB, whereas check/raising the turn gets you an extra BB out of AK/AQ.
I probably cap by default and call the river if Villain leads or call his check/raise. If Villain doesn't appear to be thinking too much, I go ahead and raise the river as well as he may think that the 2 didn't help you so his AK is still good. If he's not on cruise control, he may be able to put you on A9/99 (33?) and only 3bet AA on the turn. |

I think flop is alright, but I like donk/3betting the turn, calling a cap, and check/calling on the river if i don't quad up As played, just call down given a TAG read, unless you think it's possible he was either out of line enough to cap with A9, or is way overplaying AK.

I'd either bet/3-bet the turn or play it like this and call down now that he 3-bet. I'm not happy about my hand now really.

we're only behind aa; i don't mind capping the turn and bet/calling the river.

I am interpreting your read as also meaning a tough, thinking player so....
I think you are OK to slow down now. I'm thinking his preflop cap and flop 3 bet have narrowed his range considerably and another 3 bet on the turn makes me think the only hand he can play this way is AA. You stand a real good chance (IMO) that you are now drawing behind to 1 out. But given the fact that there are more bad plays than there are pocket aces, I don't see folding this in our future. |

You calldown because folding at this point is really quite silly (bad for your image), you might hit a nine and there is some small chance he has AK. |
