Default Puzzling river play

10/20 Hold'em (5 handed) pokerhand.org hand converter

Button is LAG player who in addition is getting tired of me - I've won the last 3 duels against him.

Haven't payed special attention to BB, but he hasn't done anything remarkable the 30 minutes I've sat with him.

Preflop: Hero is MP with 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Button 3-bets</font>, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, BB calls, Hero calls.

Flop: (9.50 SB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font>
BB checks, Hero checks, <font color="#CC3333">Button bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">BB raises</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero 3-bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Button caps</font>, BB calls, Hero calls.

Turn: (9.75 BB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">BB bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, Button calls, <font color="#CC3333">BB 3-bets</font>, Hero calls, Button calls.

River: (18.75 BB) A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font>
BB checks, <font color="#CC3333">Hero</font>

What the f..k is he checking here??? This move actually paralyzed me in such a way that I timed out on another semi-tricky decision on another table.

Cap turn just call if he leads river. 66 is the only hand that beats you and who knows what sort of crazy draws he's 3-betting on the turn for "equity" threeway.

And obviously river is an easy value bet.

I think opening with 22 in MP is a losing play.

I think the turn is an easy cap, but would call if BB lead into me on the river after I capped the turn.

As played you have a super easy value bet, or if you are especially tricky and know the button really well you could c/r everyone but I really think this is wrong because he has to bet A LOT to make C/R'ing better than just betting for value.

omg i didn't see there was another guy in the hand.

I thought not capping the turn was a mistake before, now i think it's a big mistake.

You are right, he is CO. I don't open 22 in CO either. I don't play the hand very well and limit it to button opens.

I don't have a very big database but are you making money with 22 and 33 in CO opens? Button opens?

The BB could be really donking it up with 45 and going for the river checkraise. Or he could have a random kings up and fear the river. Or he could have 66 and just be scared of AA.

What did he have, I'm curious.

For this year, I am +0.39 BB/hand OTB with 33 (playing it 81% of the time), while I am -0.42 BB/hand OTB with 22 (playing it 83% of the time). In the CO, I am +0.03 BB/hand with 33 (playing it 62% of the time), while I am -0.23 BB/hand in the CO with 22 (playing it 54% of the time).

Overall, I am an impressive -0.18 BB/hand with 22, making it an equal loser with 72o, and slightly worse than J3o.
