My deep stack play needs work.
$2/$5 NL Live game
I hardly ever play with deep stacks because I don tplay much live and my online sessions are short so Im really lost in a hand like this. Its been 6-7 handed for a couple rounds. Ive open up a bit. Ive raised with 33 and 66, CB'd the flop with nothing against 2 callers and took it down both times. I showed one of them. I raised Qs 9s and got 2 calls. I checked the Ah Jh 6d flop behind. Turn was the Jc. They checked and I bet 3/4 pot and showed when they folded. Im actually playing tight but when it went a little short I wanted to look like a LAG which I am most definately not. A few hands later..... I raise to $20 with Qs Js on the button. An asian guy reraises to $70 in the SB. Im almost positive he has AA / KK. Hes limped AK at least twice and I doubt he will reraise OOP with it. Hes also the type to call a raise with any ace. He won a big pot and a MONSTER pot this way. He has about $2000 and I cover. I know my deep stack play needs serious work but its probably better than his. I call and say "you better be careful, I have alot of money here. If I catch the right flop Im taking that whole stack" Pot $145. Flop Qh Jd 9c. I say "thats my flop". He leads $70. Whats my play? Obviously Im raising...how much and whats my plan for the turn if / when he calls with AA / KK? |

Re: My deep stack play needs work.
Raise whatever you think he'll call on the flop. Bet whatever you think he'll call on the turn and river. Usually I would make it 250-300 on the flop.

Re: My deep stack play needs work.
First of all, if you feel uncomfortable playing deep stacks, I wouldn't be showing people bluffs. That's going to make them play back at you more and put you in unfamiliar situations where you probably aren't going to know what to do.
On this hand, if you know he has AA/KK, then make a good sized raise here on the flop. I'd make it 300 more. Then you should be able to pot the turn and push on the river if he goes into check/call mode. |

Re: My deep stack play needs work.
You really think even an avg player is going to play for 4 stacks with one pair?

Re: My deep stack play needs work.
if you're really sure that he has AA/KK just raise whatever you think he'll call. probably 250ish but you're the one at the table so you'd know best. and stop talking/showing your hands.

Re: My deep stack play needs work.
if you're so sure about your read, giving free cards anywhere would be stupid, as he is drawing fairly live
