Fold this flop is my first reaction. Once you get to the turn though, why are you raising, and even worse, calling a 3bet?

4 potential overcards in SB hand is the reason for the 3-bet.

the call is probably the result of the short stack in front of the BB.

I think if you are going to continue on this flop you should 3-bet. You may get a better hand to fold like TT, or aleast overcards to your hand w/redraws by the SB and face the short-stack HU as his range is much wider.

I'd cap this preflop. SB is probably 3-betting with a wide range that you beat. I wouldn't be too worried about BB yet.

Hand looks good postflop. I expect to see a smaller pocket pair a good amount here.

Do you think 3-betting the flop is better than raising the turn because we're letting overcards see the turn too cheaply? Or 3-betting will do a better job of folding out better hands like TT?

it is possible BB will stack off with any pair, and the SB is the type of player who attacks weakness. so i think you have to stand up and 3-bet the flop. i am guessing you waited for the turn to represent a K, but i don't think the SB is folding a better hand often enough, and i don't think getting the SB to fold a better hand is worth the times you let yourself get whipsawed (and i don't think you can fold because of it either) on the flop because you showed weakness, the times that you end up forcing him out with 88-55, and the times you let him draw to a 6 outer for one bet. a 3-bet freezes the action nicely, even if the SB has a big pair

i like 3betting the flop, as there are many overs to your hand that i wouldn't mind if SB folded.

I dont like the way I played this hand. I thought by calling on the flop I might be able to pop the short stacked bb and get the sb to fold a PP better than mine a decent amount of the time. In hindsight I should have just 3 bet the flop and went from there.
