The 'men are from mars' thing. It helped me realise two things:

1) How far I can throw a paperback when I get really angry (the whole section about women that want to be attended to by men and feel men don't give enough - after the men have worked their heart out to make a nice home and setup for their family - enraged me.) Though admittedly it does make me more attentive now and again.

2) How stupid men are about women, and how stupid women are about men.

db, gray's book is literally a joke. it is regarded as pure pablum by those in the field. i hope that you were recognizing that and threw it thusly.

I was forced to read Men are From Mars once by a girl I was attempting to reconile with. I never finished it, and eventually changed my mind about the reconciliation.

What I did take away from it though was that when a girl expresses despondency over a situation, she normally is seeking empathy and understanding. I have a tendency to instead try to solve the situation for her by offering suggestions. This was covered in the book. Girls don't like this.

So now when my present gf says for instance that she thinks she is too fat, instead of suggesting we head to the gym, I put my arms around her and coo something nice such as, "I like a girl with meat on her bones."

That's always good for a kick in the groin.

Hey this sounds pretty interesting. I want to hear more. You guys have made me really curious about what is wrong with this book.

For what it's worth, I also think men are pretty stupid about women.

A little $2 booklet put out by Gamblers Anonymous cured my compulsive gambling. Sorry, don't recall the title. It explained all the subconscious stuff involved, and once that was laid out, the rest was easy.

I still gamble on +EV stuff. The book cured me of my self-destructive need to piss away all my money on -EV stuff.
