Default Greatest Sci-Fi Movie of All Times - Sweet Sixteen

Well, after a few embarassments in the earlier rounds it seems we're finally back on track. There are a few tough-ish choices here, particularly 2001 vs. T2. I'm really going to have to think that one over for a while...

Funny, A Clockwork Orange is perhaps my favorite film ever, but I voted for Blade Runner since I consider it much more sci-fi-ish.

p.s. as usual, great job Swede.

I think if you replaced the ewoks with wookies then it wins. As it stands ewoks killed that movie.

Great job, Swede. I can only imagine what the next couple rounds will bring.

FWIW, I'm a huge Star Wars fan, but I voted for the Matrix. Impressive that four Star Wars movies made it this far. Matrix had a new story line (as new as machines running our lives can get) and some groundbreaking special effects. Although I love the ending, ROTJ just had some teddy bears running around taking out supposedly elite stormtroopers with slingshots and arrows. And a lot of burping. The Sarlacc, Jabba, and Jabba's dog/frog all burp in this movie. Does this bother anyone else?

Scottie,

Exactly, the [censored] ewoks tilted it to matrix for me as well.

Seriously. When I was six and saw ROTJ in the theater, I made my dad take me back because I loved LOVED the Ewoks. Don't know what Lucas's deal is with catering to kids (a la Phantom Menace character that shall not be named.) But now the Ewoks seem kinda stupid. I can kinda believe how the Imperial walkers get destroyed by the logs, but no way do arrows and rocks take out stormtroopers with body armor and blasters. The only Ewok guy I like is the one smoking a pipe when C3PO is telling the story. Seems like the coolest Ewok in the galaxy. I will give props to Wicket for jacking the speed bike though.

But I left that out because I was under the impression that all movies were going to be redone with zombies in them.
