Why are people so mean/racist?

After getting xbox live, I have seen the hatred in humanity's heart. I have been playing vs. mode for Gears of War and so many people use the "N" word in a derogatory manner. They make fun of blacks, insult people as blacks and have also made fun of Mexicans. These mean spirited individuals propagate their racist hate from all over the place not just the South.

They also make fun of homosexuals. Like I said in my earlier thread, I don't agree with the statement: "It's not gay if it feels good" but I'm still cool with teh gheys. These gay bashing remarks by many are definately uncalled for.

with all the h4tr3d in the world already, it pains my heart that so much discrimination based on colour is still present.

not true, because of the mic sets, you can tell that these people are in their late teens and early 20's.

When they say "nigga this" and "screw you nigga" or something of the like, I'll jokingly say: "what's a nigga" and many of these people will reply with: "it's a [censored] black guy."

There was this 19 year old chick playing and she was getting ripped up by a few guys. The chick (from kentucky) started calling these guys "[censored] niggas" and I called her out on her h4tr3d. I asked her if she really black people and she said: "well not ALL" and I died a little inside.

Group behaviour. People will identify with a certain group, and oppose others from different groups. If you force everyone to wear a red or blue baseball cap the same thing will happen: "the blues are immoral" "all reds are stupid", etc. It's probably related to belonging to a "pack" in nature, pretty much like wolves. Can't fool nature into thinking we're civilized, logically thinking people.
