Judge Wapner v. Judge Judy: Which to decide your case? (pics)

Judge Wapnerwas the first American television judge, IIRC, presiding over the People's Court. Hereis a sample segment. Judge Wapner always seemed to me to be a kindly fellow and conducted himself in an orderly, professional manner.

Judge Judyis currently the premier American television judge and has a decidedly different style being very loud, in your face and hectoring as can be seen here.

On the one hand you've got Judge Wapner



who won't make you feel like the scum of the earth if you're in the wrong but also won't dump on those people who done you wrong and on the other hand you've got

Judge Judy



who will definitely get loud but it might be directed against you if it turns out that you weren't in the right like you thought you were.

In my mind it's a pretty tough decision as to which judge I'd rather have my case in front of.

I agree with this. I would never appear before Judge Judy if there was even a possibility of me being in the wrong.

I haven't seen enough of Judge Judy to make a fair assessment, but I thought Wapner was a good, fair judge who based his decisions on the law and facts. Judge Judy is more entertaining but it seems like she comes to snap decisions without hearing both sides - one side says "she ruined my dress" and Judge Judy says "why'd you go and ruin her dress?" while Wapner tended to hear one side's case and then get the other side's case, and then go away for a minute to get a law book to quote from and then come back with a decision.
