Default meh.

10-20 5 handed

Villain in the SB is tilting a bit, though more preflop looseness than horrendous post-flop play. A regular LAG he's at 38/25/2 1BB/100 over 4k hands in my database.

Hero opens UTG with JJ, Villain calls, BB calls.

Flop 99T

Villain checks, BB checks, Hero bets, Villain raises, BB folds, Hero 3 bets, Villain caps, Hero calls.

Turn 2

Villain bets, Hero calls.

River Q

Villain checks, Hero bets, Villain raises, Hero folds.

check the river against a LAG like this, at least for me. because if I value bet here, and he raises I'm gonna have a hard time folding, and I will be dead a lot, but sometimes he will be bluffing so I will want to call. I think I'd also raise the turn here, especially if the guy is tilting and is likely overplaying TP or a draw.

When a LAG makes a seeminly irrational river check, I will check behind more often than not. If he is on super tilt I will raise the turn.

As played, I check behind.

I am more likely to check here esp when the Q hits.

my thoughts on the turn: I'm somewhat wary of raising in these positions against these villains, esp this villain in particular since he is quite capable of 3betting with a T or a draw (probably not an underpair though)

river is usually a check behind, but I felt pretty sure he would pay off an underpair here, maybe even ace-high -- I felt the C/R was for value as villain has to expect at least a crying call here.

I agree. When the Q hits and he checks, I'm already mentally spending the BB he's going to pay me with AT. I think the "WTF factor" provides enough equity to call the CR.

Pretty easy turn raise for me. Tricky LAGs often prefer to c/r the turn to capping the flop with a 9 (at least against me).

Easy value bet on the river. Sucks to get owned by the c/r, but it won't happen very often. I think in a vacuum it's a fold, but I probably call 75% of the time.
