you get better responses if you don't allude to the results in the title

you have 7(or more) outs vs anything ahead of you and you aren't always behind

A bigger bet was in order on the flop. 16 dollars was just not enough when the pot was 40 bucks. He could have been check raising with a KQ or AQ but you do have an outdraw with the A of hearts in case he has a set.

Any history with villian? was he likely to bet draw? I think If you didn't hold the ace of hearts you could bet here. Better option imho would be to check behind for two reasons 1) Free draw at the flush and 2) Pot size control. If you bet here and he flat calls then fires the river u can't goto showdown (He mite well have AQ).

I bet 16 on the flop for some pot control, but he came back at me strong. Is checking the flop really a good option, after the check Id have no idea where I am in the hand. Say i bet 30 on the flop and got rr to 70, would that be a easier fold?

I agree that you definitely needed to bet more on the flop. On that flop, a bet of $25 would have been more appropriate.

What hands would villian call with here preflop that would make his flush? The A,Q and 9 of hearts are out so that really only leaves KJh/J10h. Has villian called with these types of hands previously? Have you been very active lately and is villian trying to make a play on you? If the villian has a set, you still have the 2 aces and 9 hearts for the flush. That's approximately a 22% winning chance on the river, so you cant really call his big turn bet.

I don't like checking behind on the flop. Sure we could be beaten by sets, but more often we get value from AQ/KQ/heart draws/straight draws. It's going to be more expensive when we are behind, but the hhands we beat pay more too. That's just how it is with multi-way pots.

Edit: Ah Coldwtr, wondered if that was the case. OP please use a converter or type out the action. Cut 'n paste HH is crap.
