Default Session Review: Try one tonight.

I read on here some advise about going back over Tracker to review any session that may have been troubling or interesting, it is priceless advise!

I thought I had a God-awful session last night at PS 1/2; it felt awful, I felt violated and even imagined I walked with a slight limp when I dragged myself off to bed, and sure enough when I checked Tracker tonight to see how bad it was, there it was in Black and White...53 hands, biggest winning hand was for $1.00 overall down 20BB for the session. It didn’t just feel awful it was awful. Best starting hand AK and 0 for 2 with it, only dealt 1 PP and hallucinated I was ahead with 66.

Then, looking back over the Biggest Losses...as I let the hands replay I was embarrassed at how I tried to force marginal situations trying to regain lost ground.

I hadn’t used Tracker like this before and I think I’ve missed out. The session review helped bring perspective and distance to my play.

This is fabulous advice. For extra practice, get out your calculators and figure EV for each decision you could make in some of those big losses.

I'm riding a 100+ BB downswing right now, so I've been doing ALOT of reviewing.

It's hard to look back at those sometimes. Another great avenue is to participate in the frequently occuring session reviews we do here. Having another objective view into a session can be very helpful and eye-opening.

I reviewed a session I played yesterday and was stunned to see just how bad one of the plays was, and not only that, I tried it twice! If I hadn't sat down and reviewed with PT then I'd have been oblivious to it. At least now I've recognised it, now I need to stop doing it.

yup...its Housecalls or myself in the absence of Nomadtla.

basically its every 2 weeks so you just missed the most recent one....just watch the 2+2 forums with a post saying Session reviews in the title by Housecalls.

edit: if you really want to make sure you dont miss it just sent Housecalls or me a PM.

Good stuff. I try to do this whether I'm up or down. Some sessions I know I'm cold decked. Lately I've been trying to just get up from the table instead of tilting and trying to push marginal edges.

I just did the same thing for a bad session two or three nights ago. It's not fun but it is necessary.
