Default Wireless Internet Trouble



the circled icon won't acquire an IP address. I've right clicked and hit 'repair', but it just tries to acquire forever. help appreciated, thanks

did you reboot?

reboot your wireless router also

rebooted the computer
unplugged the router for 2 mins and replugged it in
rebooted the computer
opened network connections window
still trying to acquire ip address
hit repair
kept trying to acquire ip address after 5 mins so I cancelled it

Did this just start happening or has this PC never connected to this wireless network before?

Make sure DHCP is setup on the router?

Sounds like your router doesn't want to assign IP's but your PC is set to acquire one

I've had similar problems and my mistake was that I had entered the wrong WPA key, so it just kept trying to connect with the wrong key.

the router is pretty new and this is the 2nd time I've tried getting wireless to work unsuccessfully.

I'll retry the key.

its looking more and more like I'll just have to stick with using a long network cable.
