Default Nonbinding Resolutions

Can someone tell me what the point of a "Nonbinding Resolution" about Iraq is, especially by small town or city government entities? Besides spouting off what they feel about Iraq, what is the point? Here in Colorado a bunch of local politicians are putting one together...to what end?

Those who manage the war will not change their plans based on what a bunch guys in CO think and the terrorists will simply use the "NBR" as a propaganda tool to recruit more lunatics. "See! Even the Colorado Government doesn't support the Federal Government over there...they’re disintegrating from the inside out! Join us in destroying the evil west...there doomed!" These sorts of things have been seen in propaganda from the Middle East before, so WTF? Why fan the flames? We have a Federal Gov. for a reason; these local politicians should concentrate on local stuff, no?

If they think that it will help them win the next election, then that's what they'll do. It's up to the voters to say "stop doing that and do something useful or we'll fire you". It the voters are saying "it's nice to see them take a stand against this war we don't like" then it's full steam ahead.
