Default Satellite Seat Bubble

$200r Satellite at the Commerce, two seats, 3rd is $1000.

All players have been all -in at least a dozen times in the last hour. I've been all-in twice as much as the other two.

UTG (Me) 8XBB
SB 4XBB
BB 12XBB

There is an ante.

What is your opening range here, and do you open push everything?

I'm certainly not pushing any 2 here, since in all likelihood SB will be pushing any 2 into the "big stack" who will absolutely have to call with any 2. My push range here is pretty tight, I'd say AK/AQ suited or not and QQ+. If you become the shorty, then myrange would open significantly to open push.

A reasonable first pass is ~1/3 of your hands. That means j7 or so, how much to you modify from there.

playing 5% of your hands is not reasonable.

I'm pushing A8+, KJ+, any pair, I would imagine folding these hands would be bad, as no way is BB calling SB's push without a pretty decent hand, he is the big stack and can safely fold for a couple orbits hoping one of you will take each other out, and if he calls and loses then it is a virtual tie with everybody have 8BBs.

Cheers!
John

Why would we want to push 1/3 of our hands? Shouldn't we be folding most hands until shorty doubles up or busts?

Thats what im thinking. We don't want to be pushing into 12 BB's and even losing a hand to shorty hurts. I'd push like top 10%.

The problem is if we are not active, shorty can keep shoving, and stealing 1.5bb each time, assuming big stack waits for a confrontation.

I like shoving into shorty with a lot of hands, any A, any K, any pair, any two paint, and any q.

If we can get a couple of folds, and just nip him for a couple of blinds, putting the pressure on him, when he doesnt have 'instacall odds' I think we do better in the long run.

It is painful to shove crud and be called and lose, but i think its far more painful to play 'conservative', and have shorty steal, then double up
