Multi Tabling
I've been playing 3 tables for about 2k hands and I'm fairly used to it now but it seems like a lot guys are playing 5-6+ tables at a time. This baffles me. Whats the secret to this? How can you make reasonable decisions with that much action?
Say you get AK at one table, QQ at another table, and J10s on the final table. How can you play situations like this without your brain melting? (something similar to this happened to me the other day) I feel like I have good grasp of 3 tables and I'd like to increase but I'd like to play smart poker... not Whack-a-mole. Any insights are appreciated... |

Re: Multi Tabling
If you slowly move up, it's not a problem. I never started below 4 tables just because it was way too slow and boring for me. When you feel like you're playing great poker and nowhere close to timing out, add another table. Keep doing that until you can get as many as you like (12 for me now).

Re: Multi Tabling
Training.
The more you play, the more automatic a lot of situations become. Though clearly, with each table you add (quantity) you sacrifice some quality. And as you add more and more tables you will eventually reach a point where adding one more will not increase your hourly rate. It might in fact have a negative impact. There is another issue to consider with Massively Multitabling Online (with Rakeback) Poker Games (MMORPG). As you grind out a steady hourly rate playing 3353424^10 tables you are not likely to become a better player. |

Re: Multi Tabling
I used to 12-table too, but that's just sick and I lose more than I win. Eight tables worked fine for me, but even there I didn't play too good so I decided to cut it down to 4 tables, not that I can't handle more but I'm much more concentrated with only 4 tables.
Also I used to play Starcraft for a long time, that's why I think multitabling is no problem for me. Just try to add one at a time and see how you do. But don't forget to cut it down if you see yourself making bad decisions. |

Re: Multi Tabling
get a bet pot script. these things are awsome because you spend less time thinking about how much to bet/typing it in/mucking around with the slider, so u have more time to give ur attention to the other tables. Also mayb get an auto reloader, u can find it in the software forum. If ur really serious about multitablin 6+ tables, id look at getting two 20" monitors, or 1 30", coz its alot easier without overlap

[/ QUOTE ] after u play for a while and get into alot of different situations, hands usually tend to play out pretty easily (especially on earlier streets). Ull raise, or 3bet with the AK/QQ, and raise or cold call with the JT. If ur the one with the lead in the hand, ull cbet most flops. Basically all of this is done without thinking at all, its all pretty much robotic. If they raise or call the flop though u gotta put ur thinking cap on, but by that time most of the other tough hands ur in will have already been over. |

Re: Multi Tabling

Re: Multi Tabling
People who are baffled by this just need to play more and not try to figure it out as some sort of poker mystery to be solved.
