Default Steal and Blind defense %s

What are good percentages for bb defense and button steal at different limits?

I was recently asked this question. My answer was that the %s are totally dependent on the aggressiveness and hand range of your opponents. Still it would be nice to get an idea for him what his leaves should be at 3/6. I din't find much of anything in the archive.

button steal only? as a default im around 45.

bb defense in general im like 42. or did you mean bb defense vs just button? not sure about that one but proly around 35.

honestly we've gone over these numbers tons of times here. winning players steal as little as 35 and high as 50. they defend from 50 to 30.

My range is 22, Ax, K6, Q8, J8, T8, 98, Axs, Kxs, Q6s, J7s, T7s, 64s+, 54s+ or something like that as default from the button.
I defend a bit more hands in the bb vs a button steal after sb folds though.

My range is 22+, Ax, K8+, Q9+, J9+, 54s+, 75s+, K4s+, Q7s+, J8s+, T8s+

That's a rough approx. Against maniacs I'd probably fold K8 and J9. Against tighter players I might add in K6, 98, Q8, T7s, etc.

Also, something I don't do but plan to start doing it Sklanksy's button open limp with hands like A6o against very loose blinds.

FWIW, party and stars have a 1-3 structure at $3/$6 whereas it's a 1-2 structure at tilt iirc.

The reason experienced player gives this advice is that if u ever want to leave the multitabling at lowlimit u have to learn poker the hard way. Given the other guys handrange and his game postflop, what can I do preflop?

One way to get better at this is to play HU every week, even if u dont make money doing it (because of sick rake), then u will really understand the difference between a LAG, a LP and other styles. And u will understand that there is no shortcut, u have to play the player, not the "average guy at a certain limit".

And I agree with Victor, search the archive... I know I had made this post at least 10-15 times.

Perfect - I defend ~50-52% and steal 40% - it all depends on how well you play post flop and I have made a very concentrated effort to impove my post flop game after making really loose PF defenses.....
