Default Treadmills?

Why does everybody love treadmills. I absolutely hate them. If I run 3 or 4 miles on a treadmill its boring as hell, it feels like I've been running forever, and I get extra sweaty. When I go to the gym I don't understand why the treadmills are packed and no one is on the track. Girls especially seem to run on the treadmill, WHY?

The treadmill (at home, not a gym) gives me a chance to watch TV shows that I wouldn't have time for otherwise. I'm going through Battlestar Galactica right now. 44 minutes/episode, so 1 episode/day is perfect timing. Plus I hate running, so it gives me something else to focus on.

Personally, my lungs are very sensitive to cold air. That's why I use the elliptical at the gym for my 2 cardio-only days.

Ok I can kind of understand having a treadmill at home, but why go to gym and use one instead of the track? And even then why bother go to the gym when you can just go out your front door and run? (unless its too cold or too hot)

Too cold, too hot, sprained ankles, hills, waiting for stoplights, can't watch TV (this is the biggest one for me)

because its a lot easier to perform than the alternative exercises. people want to be as lazy as they can while working out. it disgusts me

The elliptical machine in my building has a TV and DVD player. With BlockbusterOnline, I'm up to season 5 of Smallville and Sopranos.
