Another Possible Solution
Gawd, I can hear all already.
In any case here is another thought. Given that the state of California, and other states, have absolutely no qualms about using degenerate gambling as a means of generating revenue, (state lotteries) let's make them part of our solution. Suppose that the State of California was itself the owner of an online poker room. They could contract the actual operation to an experienced online poker company and collect the rake as state revenue directly. Poker accounts could be funded by the simple mechanism of selling PIN numbers at selected locations. The poker player could logon to the site's cashier, enter the PIN number and be in business. To cash out, the player would generate a PIN number from the cashier, take it to an authorized location and cash it in. Sounds eerily like the lottery doesn't it. The advantage for the state is obviously the dough to be raked in in the form of rake. The advantage to us would be a legitimate and legal way to play online poker. Who is going to fiercely oppose this? The existing cardrooms and casinos. We can mitigate this somewhat by making them the authorized outlet for PIN numbers. They get a cut off the sales. Then it is simply a battle between the greed of the interests who would like to have more revenue, and the greed of some of the politicians who would like the cardroom/casino contributions. Who can screw it up the most. The state of course, but maybe they could get it somewhat right since it means real bucks in their pocket. Other states could join in the network just like they do for the mega lotteries and expand the reach and revenues. It would behoove the state to have the site operator studiously ignore such things as IP addresses. As long as the PINs were purchased and cashed in at an authorized location, everyone is good to go. (just like the lottery) Uh, Tuff, will we get rakeback? Please be serious with your questions. Hey Tuff, how about multitabling? After all, that maximizes the income stream. This will be looked at very carefully by the state's green eyeshade crowd. They will quite coldly do exactly what is in the best interest of the state. If that is unlimited multitabling, they will do it. If it is limited numbers of tables greater than one, they will recommend that. And if they should come to the conclusion that Tuff has had it right all along, and single tabling is best for the maximum long term gain, they will do that. They will be loath to kill off a golden goose that could bring solid revenue for decades to come to get a short term revenue burst. But don't argue with me, argue with them when it comes that time. Your humble servant, Tuff |

Utter drivel [/ QUOTE ] Should something like this come about, I do sincerely hope that foreign players will be welcome. The State of California, and US players can use the money. Tuff |

Re: Another Possible Solution
Isn't something like this is what North Dakota tried to do?
More likely for some revenue starved State that doesn't have that big of a population to sway would enact something like this. On the basis of pure revenue, if California was so desperate for money, why don't they just start running whores and open up crack houses? Probably more profitable operations than online card rooms. |

Tuff fish, your videos are certainly entertaining but don't let it go to your head and think that we actually like you. Can a mod edit his account so each post MUST include a video? thx in advance. [/ QUOTE ] Excuse me. I will try to speak in simple sentences. You folks are the ones who depend on online poker to make a living, I don't. You folks are the ones who need online poker in the US to be available, legal, and viable. I don't. I have proposed two possible scenerios in which online poker might become just that. But, because it wasn't a plan to deliver platters of fish to your easy chair, you all turned on the hate. Get a clue. The online poker world for US players is in deep dodo. The days of easy fishing are gone.. gone.. gone. You can hate me til hell freezes over. That will not change a thing, it will change nothing. Got that? Nothing. I want online poker to be available, legal, and safe for my own reasons. You want the same thing for your own reasons. These reasons are manifestly quite different. You want to extract money from unsuspecting and inept poker players so as to make a living in your pajamas. I want to play poker and extract money from inept and unsuspecting poker players because it is a fun thing to do on a Saturday night. I am willing to entertain some different approaches to getting online poker legal and available. You want platters of fish hand delivered to your doorstep. I stand some slim chance of getting what I want. You stand a zero, nil, none not even, chance to bring back the "good ole days" Get over yourselves. Most of you are immature snot nosed college brats who caught a wave, and now it is breaking on the shore. Get over it and start thinking of plan "B". Idiots. Tuff, Who has a daughter who tells me every day how stupid I am, and a young lady at work of the same age, a graduate of Cal Tech, who tells me the same thing quite often. I am immune........... |
