Default Interesting hand vs. Nordberg in the Stars nightly

I'm a big fan of looking back at hands from my MTT's..This one was from the month of December and the villian (Nordberg) ended up taking it down..I mainly play sit n gos but I knew Nordberg was a solid aggressive player..I played this hand different from how I usually do because knowing Nordberg was an aggressive player so I decided to check behind him on the flop..When he went all in for 30 thousand I was real stubborn and called him down after about 5 seconds of thinking just not willing to accept the fact that he'd call my raise on the turn with an 8..there were about 40 players left at this point in the tournament and I ended coming in about 25th...Any suggestions/advice on this hand is appreciated.

i mean you could push the turn but he's drawing to 2 outs a lot of the time. i like how you played it, he could easily be on a last ditch bluff and you are getting sick odds.

I think betting the flop would be better

I might push all in on the turn particularly since you checked the flop. He might think you are making a move here chances are you may just get paid off (results aside). As played I would have gotten it all in on the turn. I would think at this point that I have the best hand and he might just believe that he has the best hand too. You are a monster favorite here. Why did you call on the river. There is not much you can beat at this point except 99, TT. Not agressive enough with this hand in general and I think maybe calling on the river could have been avoided and you could have saved yourself some chips.

You're preflop raise seems to be a little on the large size.

I probably just bet that flop. If he is an aggressive player he might try to take away the pot anyways because of the ragged flop and while you are not directly worried about giving him a free card, the turn card could easily kill your action.

You're turn raise is a little small, but given stacks it is probably fine. If he is calling your turn raise with 78, he's likely doing it with other pps and I don't think you can fold the river. You're going to be good here some of the time.

yes but what can you beat...other than 99 or TT you have no showdown value here. Anything else and he is bluffing or he has you beat...8 beats us, so does 3 and then any overpair. Otherwise it's just a bluff we can beat here, not too much else. If he is playing with an eight though and we check the flop and jam all in on the turn we might get our money in good against an eight and it looks like we might be trying to make a move (particularly since we checked the flop and showed some weakness) so we will get called here some of the time. Not always but sometimes. I think calling the river was a mistake that cost many chips when there is very little we can beat here.

Preflop raise was fine, it was 3BB's, blinds are obviously 1500/3000. I think the check behind on the flop was awesome, I do not however like your turn raise. He just committed quite a few chips, either smooth call so he bluffs the river a LOT, or make that raise up to 42k. Don't go in between.

i dont think nord played it awfully (except for maybe preflop). you just got burned by a seriously [censored] river card (you do have to call though I think).
