Default Q&A with Scott Boras

http://redsox.bostonherald.com/redSo...ticleid=181512

22 pages long, but a good read. He's certainly the best in the business at what he does.

Didn't read and don't have to. He's a leech and the Tony Soprano of the agent business. He is a piece of [censored].

is it safe to say you would turn him down if he wanted to represent you?

I don't get the hate. Sure, for the interests of my team I'd prefer if players we wanted to sign were represented by someone else but he's just doing his job, and doing it well.

If you dig around the chatlogs on www.baseballprospectus.com, they've got a few chats with htim that are awesome.

Boras rules.

Interesting read. Being an agent sounds a hell of a lot harder than I thought it was.

Something I wonder is if it's possible that he screws some of his players over by getting them some of these contracts. For example, with draft prospects having him as your agent will severely limit the number of teams that will draft you. The teams that will are the big spending teams, but I'm still not sure that it's good for you in the long run. Also, I'm guessing many will disagree with me here, signing a big contract could put a lot of pressure on people and make them less likely to succeed. I guess since a lot of players don't get to a second contract, it's probably good.

Obviously for the established players he would be hugely beneficial as an agent, but I'm not so sure for the young guys.

Pryor,

"is it safe to say you would turn him down if he wanted to represent you?"

If I was in a position to be his client then I would be in a position to make a ton of money without him anyway, so I don't know. I have some incredible stories about this man and why you don't need him. I will tell you some of these stories one day Pryor, you have AIM? If so PM it to me.

Also, all agents are the same generally speaking. On a scum scale from 1-10 (10 being the worst), there isn't an agent that would score lower than a 9. It is just that boras is a 12.

Even Jerry McGuire?

Agents are just doing their jobs representing clients. Boras is the best, and I doubt he would continue to get top clients if he wasn't doing a great job for them. So if you have stories to the contrary, let's hear 'em. It's put up or shut up time.
