I just wandered into my casino last night around 9PM and surprisingly saw a 20-40 Limit Omaha game going on. The 5-10 NLHE had a list, so I sat down. It was a soft 3 handed game and I ended up making a grand in about 90 minutes. Lots of action and I pretty much played every hand.
Does anyone specialize and prefer Limit instead of Pot limit (either live or online)? Full tilt doesn't have any limit omaha of any significance. |

seems extremaly boring and i guess correct strategy would be playing tight and going to the river in like every pot you choose to play.

Limit Omaha might actually be an interesting game short-handed. I've heard it's popular in some places because it's such a pure gamble; you've always got odds to draw, and most of the draws are always out. You won't be able to be too tight short-handed... make sure you're drawing correctly, and not getting in trouble with marginal made hands. I wouldn't be surprised if your expectation in the game was pretty low, since it can be so hard to play incorrectly... could be very wrong of course, and i have no idea what sort of players you were up against.
Where was the game? |

Game was at Detroit, Michigan. I'm pretty lucky being within an hours drive of 5 casinos.
I really liked it (this session anyways). Probably had to do with the fact I was running well. Was wondering how many here play medium stakes limit regularly and prefer it to pot limit. |

I don't think anybody plays limit omaha high as their main game, and I don't think there are decent-sized medium-high stakes game going anywhere online, regularly.

I have played alot of limit omaha, not those stakes though. Absolute has been the only site I've found to have a consistant following.
I play mostly 2-4, 3-6, and 5-10. Yes, don't bother playing at a full ring(there is no strategy for that). Shorthanded you could really come out good in the long run, against the right opponents. My strategy is to just raise alot. When there is 4 or less players, you could really get a feel of what the other players are holding. I would definetly try Absolute for and small stakes up to 5-10. Occasionally I've seen people play 40-80. ps- there is alot of luck in the short run, but in the long run as with any poker game- the good players will come out with the money. |

FTP has high stakes limit omaha games (1k/2k) fairly regularly as I recall, but I never see medium limit there.
As already pointed out, Absolute's medium limit omaha tables are fairly active these days, which is really, really cool. |

[/ QUOTE ] I agree that SH would be much more interesting and involve a lot more poker. But I disagree that there's no strategy to full ring. at least where the game is popular (casinos in some cities), it thrives gamblers with most players playing most hands. In those games the strategy is very definite: you play for two hands--nut flush and top full. |

i believe they are private tables that cannot be opened by mortals, as i constantly see matusow/ivey/sbrugby/etc etc playing 1k/2k limit omaha (hi) there.
