Problem running Poker Grapher - plse help

I have installed .net framework 2.0 but when I try and run the Poker Grapher programme I get the following message:

Poker Grapher Beta Testers,

There is a new Beta version of Poker Grapher v1.4.1 available for public download at SourceForge.

As always, please check out the release notes for the details of what has changed.

Basically, I have changed the version numbering methodology, in an attempt to force .NET to properly update any previous installations of Poker Grapher v1.4.0.x. Beginning with this release, Poker Grapher will use the methodology of Major.Minor.Build.

This release should be installed over the top of any previous Poker Grapher v1.4.0.x installations. If that fails, then please uninstall Poker Grapher v1.4.0.x and then install Poker Grapher v1.4.1. Please report any errors related to this (and I will continue to beat my head against the wall). [img]/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]

In addition, this release contains a lot of debug code and if launched in Debug Mode (you will notice a new shortcut in your Poker Grapher program group) it will be slower than "Normal" mode.

If you get any errors, please run Poker Grapher (debug mode) and paste the contents of the PGLog.txt (located in the application directory) in a PM to me.

Check it out. As always, I appreciate your help in debugging this application.

Perhaps it is just my laptop that doesn't like it? Although it is only 6 weeks old so it shouldn't be a problem.

Anyways, thanks for your help but I have given up on the thought of poker grapher now - it's just too much agro [img]/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]

If you are running Windows Vista, that may be the problem. I believe I read on the Poker Tracker website that it is not supported on Vista yet because some files are stored in a different place or something like that. Just a thought....

There is a second shortcut in the Poker Grapher program group called Poker Grapher (debug mode). Try running that. Then after it errors, if you could post the contents of the PGLog.txt file, I will be happy to look at it. The PGLog.txt file will be located in your Poker Grapher installation directory (usually C:\Program Files\Poker Grapher).

OK - I have downloaded poker grapher for the 3rd time and installed it.

It does not put a shortcut on the desktop for me so I go to C:\Programme Files\Poker Grapher to find the shortcut.

There are 3 files in this folder:

Mono.Security.dll
Npgsql.dll
PokerGrapher Shortcut icon

I see no debug file.

So what I have done previously (last 2 times I have installed it) is drag the PokerGrapher icon onto my desktop. I then double click it to open it and get the error message.

This time tho (3rd time I have installed it) I didn't drag the PokerGrapher Icon onto my desktop - I just double clicked on it while it was still in its folder where it was downloaded to. AND IT WORKS!

Great I thought and move it from the folder onto the desktop so that I have the shortcut there - nice and handy - I double click it and it doesn't work.

So I drag it back into its folder and try and open it up again - and it works.

This is very strange and then I realise that if i right click and create a shortcut of this Icon and drag THAT onto the desktop that might do the trick and lo and behold it works.

HURRAH!

So in the end, like the stupid woman I am, I finally figure it out and have no need for a man to solve my problem [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]

Thanks anyways, coz if it wasn't for you trying to help, I would not have downloaded it again and wouldn't have realised what a donk I was being.

Glad it works for you! Yes, the executable (PokerGrapher.exe) must remain in the installation directory (usually, C:\Program Files\Poker Grapher), so it can see the other two files. These other files are needed to connect to the PostgreSQL database.

What I refered to as the Program group can be found if you click on the Start button, go to All Programs, then to the group Poker Grapher. There you should see two shortcuts. One for regular mode and one for debug mode. I will be more clear in the future.

I didn't create a shortcut on the Desktop on purpose, since I don't like a cluttered Desktop. But in hind site, I will have the next release create a shortcut there to make it easier to find the program.
