AQ, weird spot
Game is a fairly loose, unaggressive 10 handed live 2/5NL game. I have a not too tight not too loose image. I have raised about 4 hands preflop and a TAG in the SB has come over the top and I've folded each of my hands. I have about $600 and the old guy UTG has around $550. In the hand in question UTG loose and unaggressive old guy limps to my right and keeps saying he's stuck 900, and how it will be impossible to make his money back. I look down at AsQh and raise it up to 20. I get 2 callers behind and the BB and UTG call.
FLOP: 3s6s9s blinds and the old guy check to me, I bet 50(which is too small in hindsight), all fold to the UTG old man and he checkraises to 115. I still have about 500 behind, my action? I considered 3 betting, but I don't think he folds sets and definitely not flushes. I think checking the flop might have been good too... |

Re: AQ, weird spot
if I just call his raise is my hand clearly defined as the As? And that gives me reverse implied odds...

Re: AQ, weird spot
Well, I meant with reverse implied odds, I do not get any action if another spade hits.

Re: AQ, weird spot
actually I just have no implied odds... In hindsight I think this hand is very straightforward actually. I should just check call the flop even though this line is extremely weak. Also if I bet, bet more and I can shove to a checkraise.

Re: AQ, weird spot
from the sounds of villain, he's probably not folding if you push flop, so given the bet i'd call. (btw, the stacks actually work out pretty well for a push here if you wanted to - it'd be a bit over a psb i think).
if i did bet, i would bet bigger on the flop. i would probably check and likely crai depending on the action. |

[/ QUOTE ] actually only the Js Qs Ks give hero the nuts because of straight flushes. so if villain *really* knew that hero had the As then hero would have reverse implied odds problems bc villain only plays a big pot with a sf if a spade hit. but obviously i'm just nitting up the thread. |
