Re: The OJ Mayo incident
so the official blows a second technical on Mayo despite Mayo doing absolutely nothing visible (his lips don't seem to move so it couldn't have been something he said). Then the official takes a blatant dive when Mayo brushes him? What the hell? Edit: Here is ESPN's Pat Forde's take on this pretty interesting situation. |

Re: The OJ Mayo incident
Is there an article somewhere about this? I don't get what happened, the ref flopped so he could call a 2nd T?
Also, I thought this going to have something to do with OJ Simpson and mayonnaise. |

Re: The OJ Mayo incident
Wow, that ref took a dive. I saw this on ESPN but forgot the search for the video. Mayo didn't even touch him when the guy fell.
I also see no reason for the 2nd T |

Re: The OJ Mayo incident
I couldn't tell from the video, but he possibly broke a cardinal rule-twice. Do not touch the ref.
No doubt the flop was over the top, and the ref appeared to be looking for his opportunity to act, but: the first tech was most likely defendable. if he brushed the (other) ref, the second is tech is understandable. IF he touched the wannabe actor ref, what recourse does the ref have? He's already ejected the player, he can't beat him up. Serves no purpose to stand and argue with a player that has been ejected (this ain't MLB). So he takes a sissified route to penalize the player for his (possible) second brushing of an official. If he never made contact with either official, the second tech is questionable, but not completely out of the question. The player is still strutting, posturing, playing with his privates, and testing the limits of what he can get away with. The refs should have spoken to him and led him in another direction other than the middle of the court. If the second ref was never even touched, then, well....that's just hilarious. |

[ QUOTE ]
playing with his privates [/ QUOTE ] It seems to me that this is incorrect. He was tucking his jersey back into his shorts and then he just wiggled the top part to make sure the jersey was all in there. As for strutting and such, it looks like he's just pissed off about getting the technical. The real problems were first brushing against the guy from the other team and the little verbal jabbing that began after it, then looking back at them before walking through the refs, and then finally actually walking through the refs, which is pretty dumb. |

Re: The OJ Mayo incident
very stupid official, but OJ brings alot on himself. He's not a nice guy, and he is a walking probation for USC bball from what I've read about him.
