Default Depositing foreign currency

Hi there. I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this question. Please mark the name of the forum you move it to, if that happens.

I won a non-trivial amount of money in a poker tournanent in Denmark, and received the cash prize in Danish Kronas. I didnt have time to deposit or convert the money while I was there, so now I have this envelope full of Kronas and no idea where to go to deposit them.

I am in New York City, have accounts in TD Ameritrade (there's an office of theirs nearby) and Chase Manhattan Bank. What are my options as to depositing this money with the best exchange rates? I have a note from the casino confirming that I got that money legitimately, and did declare it in customs upon arriving back in the USA.

Thanks for help.

In the UK, we can open accounts in multiple major currencies. You get crappy interest, but it's better than the tourist exchange rate if you choose to transfer the money electronically into your $ account.

You should ask your bank to open a Krona account, although this might not be available in a non-Europe retail bank.
