Default Clueless with OESDs

I played this hand recently... it's rather uneventful, but I find myself scratching my head a bit in these situations, so aside from any comments anyone might have on this specific hand, some general pointers on playing OESDs would be greatly appreciated.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.05 BB (5 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

UTG ($6.60)
MP ($9.66)
Button ($4.26)
SB ($3.10)
Hero ($12.63)

Small blind is 64/11/2.2 and Button is 45/6.4/1.2 after about 30 or so hands.

Preflop: Hero is BB with 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, Button calls $0.05, SB completes, Hero checks.

Flop: ($0.15) J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">SB bets $0.2</font>, Hero calls $0.20, Button calls $0.20.

Turn: ($0.75) 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">SB bets $0.3</font>, Hero folds, Button calls $0.30.

River: ($1.35) 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">SB bets $0.5</font>, Button folds.

Final Pot: $1.85

My thought process on the flop: I'm about 5 to 1 to hit my straight on the turn, so I have to win at least $1 (5 x my bet) for this call to be +EV. I have two streets to get money into the pot, so this seems very plausible. I am risking a raise from the button, but this player is pretty passive, so I don't expect this player to make a move without a very strong hand.

On the turn, I'm facing a slightly larger bet with less implied odds. Maybe someone can make a case for chasing here, but I wasn't confident I could get enough $$ in the pot if I hit to justify calling here. Thoughts?

you're getting 3.5:1 on the turn alone, you'll be able to make this up on the river.
