Default 10+1: The blinds are getting big and it’s still 9 ways

I’m a noob at STT’s. My main game was 1/2 limit 6 – max just 3 nights ago, so i have no idea what I’m doing.

VC, STT 10+1 NL, blinds 150/300, level 5, (9 handed)

SB (t1080)
UTG+2 (t2200)
Hero (t2100)
BTN (t2600)
Largest (t3400)
Smallest (t1080)

Preflop: Hero is MP+1 with 7 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
2 fold, UTG+2 calls, 1 folds, hero raises to t900,

My intention was just to take the pot since the blinds are getting big. I would not mind a call from UTG+2, since continuation bet would probably bring this home. At earlier levels I would just limp/fold, but here I feel like the blinds are already so big that I have to do something. Should I just go all-in in here or fold or what (I’m so confused…)

1 folds, button calls, sb raises to t1080 (All-in), bb folds, UTG+2 folds, hero calls, button calls

Well that plan went sour. The software did not give me option to go all-in and it was only 180 more to me so I called.

Flop: (t3840) T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img](3 players)
Hero raises to t1020 (All-in)…

Good flop for me, but I do not want Btn to call with overcards so I went all-in. Good or too aggressive?

I don't like the idea of raising half of your stack here expecially wth t750 in the pot already. You're giving the limper and BB better than 1 to 2.5 on a call, to what I would presume to be hitting a 1 to 2, then the pot post flop will be offering better than 1 to 3. This is definitely a push or fold....which one is somewhat iffy, but I would guess it to be a fold...but I'm going to take a shower, so maybe someone else can give you a better answer. I'll think about it more when I get back

With less than 10BB you should be pushing or folding.

This looks like a push.

Push after flop was good though.

I would move in every time here, don't get clever with 77 and only 7BB it's rarely worth it. Also you get used to having these situations with big blinds in higher SNG's, people just push more that's all, so hope to pick up a big hand when you need it and that it holds up.

77 is such a hand.

pre-flop is either a push or a fold. when action comes around to you, there's already t750 in the pot and you only have t2100. you can't make a reasonable raise without pushing. given your stack, the $ already in the pot, your cards, and utg+2 not having shown much strength by limping... this is an easy push.

given how you got to the flop, your push is standard.

welcome to the world of sng's, where you'll make 90% of your decisions pre-flop. A lot different than 6-max limit.

Honestly I haven't crunched the numbers but I would be totally amazed if this push isn't HUGELY unexploitable, and I mean a minimum of about +0.6%.

Ok so I just ran them. LOL. It's at least 0.9%!! And that's if they call some absolute crazy amount. The normal ranges have it at about 1.2% - 1.4% +$EV!!

Ig75, you probably have no idea what tigerite is talking about if you're new to sng's, but the point to take away from his last 2 posts is that pushing pre-flop is really really good.

Thank you all for the advise.

So with less than 10 bb's 77 is usually a push preflop(have to offcourse consider the action).
