Default live tourney tipping

suppose you win a live donkament for 800 dollars... how much should you tip the dealer? what about if you won 2k? 15k?
also, should you be tipping if you place 2nd-4th?

3%-5%.

This post is more appropriate in MTT Community or B&M but they get these threads a lot and are not fond of them. Maybe try to search for a thread in B&M if you are good with the search function

Here are a few threads on tournament tipping:
Thread 1

I replied in this thread before I took home 36k for second at Tstone, I tipped 1750. The winner who won 60k tipped 3k

When I won a weekly sat for a $10K WPT seat, I asked the guy paying out and he said 1%-2%.

I tipped $200 and then saw the other 3 winners give $20-$40.

Maybe different for satellites?

find out if they already withheld a % for tournament staff, if so, 0% (maybe 1% so you don't look like scrooge) (unless there were specific dealers you wanted to make sure got tipped)

Bob,
I think that stiffing the dealers is a pretty dick move unless you had a problem with the dealers. But then again I also tip in resturants when there is a 15% tip added on and I had good service.

I would like to say that I agree with tipping good dealers directly after tournaments. If you have a very fast dealer who controls the game well (especially after antes are added into the mix) then it would be nice if you could find them after the tournamet and give them a tip directly.

you know that they usually (well for bigger events, i dunno abuot one with a $800 first place) take like 3% of the prizepool for the tournament staff. This is a pretty huge amount; there was a thread about it int he circuit forum, it's way more money than dealers should be getting ($200hr+). That said, i know that the dealers aren't actually seeing 200hr, and that most of that 3% is just getting taken by the casino.

Aslong as players keep tipping large, extra amounts to the dealers afterwards, then the casinos just arent going to start paying the dealers better. We're already paying a double-rake, no need to make it triple.

Though, i do think it sucks for the dealers, but as i said, tipping specific 'good' dealers is something i like, also i still tip something; just not much.
