Ok folks, starting this Monday we don't have football anymore and I am disgusted by my lack of activity since getting over strep. So this is a friendly challenge for everyone in MTT. It is obviously honor system but I think it could do us all a lot of good, even those who are already in good shape.
5 days next week I would like each of you to run/walk a distance that tests yourself physically. Whether this is on a treadmill or outside doesn't make a difference. Post your times/distances in this thread if you wish or simply put that you accomplished one of your runs here. In addition to the exercise portion of this challenge all the participants need to eat healthier for a week as well. This can take place in many ways as well. It could be a complete overhaul of your major meals and snacks. Or simply by paying closer attention to caloric intake. Replacing your snack foods with fruits and vegetables. As with the exercise portion of this challenge you will be asked to post about what you did for food. Did you find any new meals you really liked? This info could help others in their personal challenges. If enough people do this and like the format of having a thread we can have one floating around each month. The FINAL aspect of this challenge is to write about how you feel even at the end of 1 week... it obviously takes longer then 1 week to make significant changes, however, 1 week can be the foundation of drastic health changes everyone here can make. J, all --
My poker-heavy life became much healthier when I discovered Trader Joe's. I don't particularly like to cook only for myself, and there are all sorts of healthy, reasonably priced prepared meals there. Also, I can recommend a morning walk before firing up some tables. I do it almost every day and it's good for the spirit, the body, and the poker results. Meh, that's pretty much my entire health formula. --Nate |

I try to work out each day, but I agree with Nate, trader joes, or freshdirect for us ny residents + make sure you do something each day, nothing burdens you physicall/psychologically like sitting inside all day in front of the computer. I like to make sure I go out and walk 20 blocks or so, just so I can some sort of real world interaction on days I don't have [censored] to do.
