Default Post if you mailed your Congressman today! 2/2/07

So I am going to make a pledge. I will email my congressman and my senator everyday until legislation makes internet gambling legal. Join me by posting your pledge in this thread. (If you are outside the U.S. feel free to email your representative and encourage them to pressure the United States) Feel free to make suggestions regarding language of these emails.

"Dear Congressman Boehner,

I took the opportunity to review your “American Values Agenda.” All of the legislation listed in the agenda seeks to protect the freedoms of the American public, save one. I happen to agree with every piece of legislation listed in the agenda, save that one.

Internet Gambling Prohibition

I understand the need to protect children and communities from the dangerous consequences that can arise from gambling. However, Internet gambling does not affect communities the way brick and mortar casinos do. Protection of children while necessary does not require prohibition, as shown by many other freedoms adults enjoy.

Internet Gambling is a worldwide 10Billion industry. Many internet gambling companies are listed on stock exchanges around the world. Market Capitalization is in the hundreds of billions of dollars. The WTO is on the verge of levying fines against the United States, because Internet gambling is legal in many other countries.

While no recent legislation has made internet gambling illegal directly . Legislation has caused banks inside and outside the United States to take drastic actions. The Wire Act still serves as the legal mechanism to indict the officers and shareholders of these companies. The U.K. and other European countries are losing millions of dollars in shareholder equity because of these laws.

Just recently, two SHAREHOLDERS of Neteller, an offshore bank, were arrested by the F.B.I and charged with “crimes” that could affect the worldwide banking industry. Millions of U.S. dollars belonging to U.S. citizens are now frozen in offshore accounts around the world. Many domestic and foreign banks are wondering how far the D.O.J. will pursue their officers and shareholders to enforce this prohibition.

Protecting children is a noble cause, but protecting them at the risk of our freedoms, our financial security, and ruining business relationships with our trading partners is not ideal. There are solutions to these problems, our trading partners have sought out those solutions in their countries, are we not as capable?

Thank You"

Good work. MIght add threatening to vote for whomever his opponent is regardless, if he doesn't do something about the UIGEA.

i would suggest writing something better than that. multiple errors, however small they are, won't help the cause.

Do you have any idea what the vote count was for port security bill?

You think your stupid spam emails are going to help? Why don't you just go and masturbate on your congressmans front lawn, that will help about as much.
