my river flush gets raised
live 3/6. This is probably real straightfoward, but I wanted to check.
UTG is total fish. He only gets aggressive when he raises preflop. Otherwise, its call down time. He also has the hugest chipstack in front of him ever. Must have been his night. Everyone else is loose passive. I have J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] in the BB. 5 limpers, small blind completes. I check. Flop is Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. Hero bets. 3 callers. Turn is 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. I check. Check around. River is 5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. Hero bet. Normally silent UTG says "raise". Coldcall. Fold. Hero calls/raises??? |

Re: my river flush gets raised
You have the 4th nuts. AdXd, KdXd, and QdXd are much more common UTG limping hands than say, 9dXd, 7dXd. Plus there are more combos of the higher hands (in other words there is only one 3-high flush and 7 A-high flush hands). Just call.

Re: my river flush gets raised
this could be a lot of things that you beat and you're getting overlay from the coldcaller, so 3betting is probably correct.
with a strong read i could see just calling, though. |

Re: my river flush gets raised
This guy has a flush at least 95% of the time.

[/ QUOTE ] yeah there is a lot of things i beat, but does overlay matter in determining when to raise? Calling is one thing to consider for overlay, but I dont want to be handing the overlay to UTG with my bets included. |

Re: my river flush gets raised
You are giving two extra bets (sometimes one depending on how strong their flush is) to a losing hand and may gain two to a hand you can beat (assuming the coldcaller would do so again). I think a call is appropriate in this case.
