Villain is 38/7/3 over only 30 hands, so I don't know much about him other than that he is most likely a fish.
My problem is I want to make a good sized bet here, but I can't do that without committing my whole effective stack, which is about twice a normal sized bet. Advice? Pot is 150 and villain has 235 behind. I like betting 110 to tell villain we are committed. Maybe he'll fold a small pp. If he pushes over the top I'd have to call though.

It sucks, but I would bet 120 and call a push. That is how I would play a big pair.
If you are lucky he shoves a worse ace than you or a flushdraw, hands you are eliminating with a push. Still if you think he respects a shove more than a normal bet (which I dont there there is much reason for in this case), then push is fine too. |

[/ QUOTE ] Can somebody explain to me why we are advocating calling a push with Ace high? Forgive my Limit-ish thinking, but for us to win here: 1 - Villain has to have a draw, a worse ace, or air a significant part of the time 2 - Villain has to miss making his draw or hitting his random pair In my short amount of NL experience I've seen plenty of retardedness from short stacked fish, but is calling a shove with the nut no pair going to be +EV in the long run? Also, what do we do if he just calls and the turn bricks? He would have something like a nickel left in his stack. |
