Default Is it even worth it???

Hi all,

A little bit of advice...

I live in LA (in my mind, the poker capital of the world), and for years was a successful live game player up until about a year ago when the proverbial "outside circumstances" forced me out of the game for a while. Internet play was always intriguing to me but the threats of collusion always prevented me from risking serious money there. As I began to think about getting back into the game, my first thought was to re-build my bankroll online until I have one large enough to head back to my comfy 20-40 seat at the Commerce (mmmm...the smell of fish).

For many of you, who have countless hours invested in online play (and may not be living near a poker meca), it probably makes sense for you to continue to take the risks involved with the new world of online play. However, for somebody such as myself, do you think it is even worth the risk to get into online play or should I just build the bankroll through typical low limit casino games?

Thanks for any help.

DW

Not now. Everything is fluid now: which money processors are in or out of the US market, which sites are going to serve US customers. I'd wait awhile to sort things out.

Don't invest much, withdraw your cash often.

Online >>>>>>> Live for a multitude of reasons (imo of course). I couldn't be content with 10k hands per month.

Thanks for the feedback. I know the hands per hour and smaller rake are a huge advantage of online play (which is why I thought it would be advantagous for low limit play). Perhaps I will wait and see how things settle. It would severly PISS me off to build my bankroll and then not be able to take it out :|

Thanks again.

Knowing everything I know today........ I would probably just play live until the online things get a more stable.

However, I do feel that online vs. live is about equal if done properly. i.e. just play a larger stakes game when live as compared to online.

Also, FWIW, my winrate at live games is much higher than online games. Just seems like there's more fish.

Okie...that's interesting...
More fish live?? I never would have thought that...
My table selection is always better live, probably because I never played online enough to invest in a player tracking software. One of my tricks is to look for the fish who wins BIG at a certain casino. Sure enough, they will be back to their "lucky" casino shortly...probably at their "lucky" table wearing the same "lucky" shirt. I love this game sometimes

I would suggest sticking to live play. Players are much better online and table selection is crucial.

...and we don't want more people who aren't easy fish online

I'm building a bankroll starting from a couple of freerolls at Cake. At least, trying to. Starting from Free for the third time around is a serious pain in the ass.

..hell ya it's a pain in the ass. I've done a few freerolls at UB, but I think if I build anything online it's going to come from the freerolls. I was actually reading in the micro limit area how DD started from a freeroll and is now playing 100/200 at the Commerce. Fkin amazing...

Hey...In relation to the deposit issue, perhaps internet sites should start having more freerolls (as a way to keep some money in the hands of the fish without them having to deposit it). Maybe even a freeroll for new accounts only, they can call it a fishroll
