Default Capital Gains Tax

Let me see if I have this right.

In November I cashed out a stock that I had been investing in for 3 years. My initial deposit was $600 and then I paid $50 per month up until I cashed it out.

So for capital gains it would be $3200 - ($600 + 1800) = $800 correct?

Sure, but some of those gains are short-term and some of the gains are long-term.

You don't have a great record in cashing out winners do you?

There is no such thing as reinvesting gains in stocks, this isn't real estate and 1031 you know.
