Default How do you play the 2nd nut flush?

UTG was a poor player -- calling with some very poor hands and raising junk. MP2 was a typical LP fish

PokerStars 1/2 Hold'em (10 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

Preflop: Hero is CO with J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
2 folds, UTG+2 calls, 1 fold, MP2 calls, 1 fold, Hero calls, Button calls, 1 fold, BB checks.

I limp QJ due to the weakness of the field

Flop: (5.50 SB) K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (5 players)
BB checks, UTG+2 checks, MP2 bets, Hero calls, Button folds, BB folds, UTG+2 calls.

Flopped 2nd nut flush draw + BDSD -- although there are players left to act, I think I have some cushion to call here

Turn: (4.25 BB) T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players)
UTG+2 checks, MP2 bets, Hero calls, UTG+2 calls.

Now add the OESD. Not worth much, but bolsters the argument to call

River: (7.25 BB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players)
UTG+2 checks, MP2 bets, Hero calls, UTG+2 raises, MP2 folds, Hero calls.

I didn't think I would have to pay two bets to see showdown, and I do have the 2nd nuts. When raised, do you give villain credit for the ace and fold? That's sort of like a b/f, I guess.

Final Pot: 12.25 BB

When did "typical LP fish" start bet/folding rivers?
Anyway you played it fine.

I would bet he had a low 2-card flush. Hey, and even a broken clock is right twice a day.

There isn't really that many other options is there? You certainly could raise the river, but I don't think thats a big deal. You gotta hate being raised on that river as an ace plays like this a lot, but I don't think there is anything else you can do.

Looks good to me. By raising you may have chased out a jack that could raise you. And you save a bet against an ace.
