My nephews are Boston gangstas???

My nephews came over who are 13 and 9 and they show me their myspace page. It shows them with all their friends holding up gang signs and calling themselves the McCormick gangstas. I couldnt believe what i was seeing and when i read their myspace pages i almost fell on the floor - (this 9 year old girl had a stripper on a pool as a background, and she was answering questions "have u ever cheated on someone u love" as a yes.) They told me not to tell anyone and Im realy close to them but i kinda fear for their safety now. Am i getting old (im almost 28) or is this the way things are nowadays?

for some reason if a kid is on myspace under 14 i dont think u can view it unless ur their friend

That's not normal. If Mom and Dad don't know about this, then you should send Dad an email with a link. However, I have little faith that a parent who allows a 9-year old unfettered Internet access will do much about it.

My daughter set up a MySpace page (set to private) and she knows that I will look at it without notice. I have drilled into her that she should assume that everything posted there could potentially be posted on the her classroom bulletin board.

the thing is i dont think they would be gangstas but u got to understand Mcormick is a housing project in Dorchester ( Boston) and gunshots, gangs and crime are an event that happens there a all the time. Dorchester is a bad neighborhood , thats what concerns me, not some "suburban gangstas". but u can make it out if u keep ur head on straight.

Maybe I'M the old one, but gangsta's weren't usually 13/9 yr olds who set up myspace accounts bragging about it.

They watch too much TV and have been told it's cool to act "gangsta".
