If you read the second to last paragraph you notice that this will be politics as usual. We(U S) will do this for you and you(E U) will leave the gambling issue alone. No help. I think the E U is posturing for a favorable ruling in something else and then they won't pursue the gambling issue.

It is also an issue in the EU internally, as some countries (like the Netherlands) strive for a similar restrictive policy as the one introduced in the U.S., whereas the EU wants to end state-monopolies on gambling in its own member states.

I don't think the EU will apply much pressure as of now, but if things get regulated in Europe, and European online casino's wouldn't be allowed to enter the U.S. market, when U.S. based company's could - you might see more action. That could all take a while though.

It will be interesting to see how EU countries react when US companies enter the European market with their own online gaming sites.
