Default Empress Poker Room in Joliet is Back

Empress 3 table poker room is now open. Two 5/10 and one 10/20 holdem games are currently being played.

lol... 3 tables. By the time my name is called from the list, I will have already driven to MJ2, won $500, and be back in time to grab my seat.

I think its really sad that they are only adding 3 tables... of limit nontheless. They need to offer NL, and get a decent poker room there. The demand for live poker in that area is so high, I just don't understand what they are thinking.

Is this the third or fourth time they have opened and then closed this little room?

But --- comparing it to Aurora or Metropolis -- its perhaps the third best poker room in Illinois.

I suppose, but I bet that more Illinois residents play live poker in other states than play live poker in Illinois casinos. Between MS2, Resorts and Potawatomi, there are a lot of nearby options for Chicago residents.

I can't understand The Harrahs not opening a room. In IL, the amount of "gaming seats" effects the rooms. They don't wanna shut down the all mighty slot machine to make way for 10 poker seats.

I went down and played the 5/10 the other night. I hate that game in general, was hoping to get into the 10/20 but I was on the list from a half hour before I got there, till the time I left.

Do they ever get any decent 10/20 or 20/40 games in Gary or East Chicago? Last time I was there, they only had 5/10 and the game sucked...too many ultra ultra ultra loose calling stations.

Isn't it in like a small corner near the bar. I think I remember seeing it and a sign saying it only ran on like thursday night or something stupid. That was back a couple of months though. I havent been back their in a while.

No. Not this time. No action from me. Ain't worth the trip. The three tables will be full, when they open daily about ll a.m. Last time they closed the "four" table room overnight, not a word to the customers. That was about six months ago. They run those (now three?) tables, by alternating "pit" staff. There is no "poker" staff. Illinois is due for some changes in it's gaming law. So, there will lots of changes, probably by year's end.

Nitrayn = Resorts best for LHE 10/20 - 20/40 - decent action. Nothing really gets started at Majestic Star for limit at those stakes.

We popped in Resorts one night, room looked packed and just weird vibe, so we went over to Majestic..this was late December. I'll have to check out Resorts. I have been primarlily a NL player, but it's hard around here. I don't like the seat charge @ Majestic. By the time they count the rack and dick around, your losing 10 mins an hour, so your paying for 50 mins of poker...I don't like that

Blue Chip in Michigan City charges $6.00 phh for 1/2 nl, with no "dealer rack" disruptions. You pretty much get all the hands you should get. It's taken a long time to get professionally operated poker room in NW Indiana. Boyd Gaming which owns Blue Chip also operates Borgata in Atlantic City.
