100 NL; 3 bet with AQ, A high flop and he decides to lead
How does this line look to you? Would you do anything different and why? Thanks

Re: 100 NL; 3 bet with AQ, A high flop and he decides to lead
Looks fine against short stack.
Edit: my mistake. Thought it was 200NL. I just call the flop bet. You cant worry about the board being drawy in this situation. |

i just call the flop. Then if he donks the J on the turn im probably folding coz i dont beat anything.

Re: 100 NL; 3 bet with AQ, A high flop and he decides to lead
Awkward bet sizing is the trouble here. Leaving yourself $27 to bet on the turn into a $130 pot is kind of pointless. If you're going to raise the flop, you might as well just push.
Usually villain donking out the flop like that means a big hand or he's trying to draw cheaply. With his low aggr rating, I'm less inclined to think he's leading out draws in these situations. TP2K isn't very big hand, so I'd be looking to play a small pot. I'd call the flop, probably call the turn, and seriously consider folding to a 3rd barrel unimproved. |

Re: 100 NL; 3 bet with AQ, A high flop and he decides to lead
A "donkbet" is usually leading out a smallish amount into the preflop raiser when out of position. He "donked into you" on the flop.
Donking the J on the turn would mean him betting on the turn when the Jack fell. |

Re: 100 NL; 3 bet with AQ, A high flop and he decides to lead
In this case it wouldnt be a donk bet, because he would have been the aggressor on the flop.

Re: 100 NL; 3 bet with AQ, A high flop and he decides to lead
Sure - but the flop bet is a donk. I stand by my definition of donkbet. In this case, I suppose only the flop would be "donking". It's really not the point, though - the point is:
1) If you're raising an amount that leaves you almost nothing left compared to the pot size, just go all in. 2) Raising here isn't so great IMO, because TP2K is a small hand, and plays best in a small pot - and flop raise pot commits you. |
