Big three way pot at 3/6. First player bets. Second take a really long time and someone asks for the clock. Dealer says, "No need, he's not calling." Player 2 folds. Player 3 raises a fuss about dealer interference. Correct?

Technicaly not allowed I guess. But what can you do about it after the hand? Don't tip the dealer for the rest of the session I guess.

its not appropriate, but it probably didn't influence the play of the game. I doubt the player folded because of this.

Oh, and I agree with the posters who say this is totally unacceptable and that the floor should be called to straighten out the dealer for the future. ~ Rick |

Typically I think it's best to address dealer training issues away from the table. In this case it sounds like the stink has already been made.
If the floor's a good manager she won't berate the dealer publicly just to give the customer a little satisfaction. She should acknowledge that it was a mistake and take it up in private with the dealer as a training issue. But summoning her immediately (versus waiting to discuss it) has the benefit that it will stop the table talk during this down, so it's worth doing. |

It wasn't an official request for the clock. More joking than anything. 3/6 limit.

Ha. I fantasize about these rooms where dealer's don't interfere. At my most common haunt, the graveyard dealers are notorious for commenting, speculating, and cursing. Those that do it are mostly older dealers with many years under their belt, and I doubt they'll change any time soon. I only play the lower liimits (for now), so I don't know if they also do it with the more serious players. I doubt it'd fly as much there.

I played in a 3/6 game with a guy who took forever to call a bet. The dealer said "whatcha gonna do, slowpoke?". I was taken aback at how rude this dealer was, but just then another dealer walked by and said to the same guy "how's it goin' slowpoke?" at which he replied "i'mmmmmm okaaaaaaaay"
This was in Durant, OK, true story. |
