Professional Dealer for a home game?
What do you think the average dealer would want as compinsation at a home game. I was thinking a mandintory $2 tip per pot (except for blind steals) would allow a good dealer to make $50-60/hr tax free.
Would a dealer doing this be in jepordy of losing in lisence? I think the chance of him actually getting in trouble is almost 0, but it may affect his decision. Would asking a dealer in a casino be a no-no? Or asking "Do you know a dealer who lives near XX, that would be interested in dealing a home game?" |

Re: Professional Dealer for a home game?
Hi, if you are in the UK, specifically London or nearby I would be more than happy to deal at a home game.

Why the need for a pro dealer?
Thats a bunch of money to give away. $60/hr. You play 5 hours and 300 bucks has left the table. Thats $300 that nobody can win. Might as well be at a casino. |

Re: Professional Dealer for a home game?
I run a small game (25c/50c blinds), but have gathered a handful of people for a special 1/2 game. For this we will likely have a pro dealer for at least part of it. I wouldn't do it as a regular thing unless I had REALLY high stakes, but for a once in a while special night, it'll be fun and nice. Especially for me, since I tend to do most of the dealing. Most of the others playing are doing it for the fun of it, so it won't be a big deal, especially not for those of us who tend to win.
We'll probably just do tips, but no mandatory $2/pot thing. I'm sure some tips will be that or more, but most probably just $1. |

Re: Professional Dealer for a home game?
I'm not a pro dealer but would be more than happy to deal in your game for tips and an hourly rate.
I'm near the Tampa Bay area in Florida - Oh yeah, I would expect a dinner break, bathroom breaks when needed and a break every now and again when my back screams to be stretched out. If anyone uses profanity directed towards me or threatens me in any way, I will pull out my gun (and use it). Yes, I'm licensed to carry it on my person. Also, if I get injured in your house, I will sue if compensation is not given to me for the care of my injury caused in your house. You know, now that I think about it...You might want to deal the games yourself, it might be a hassle to hire me. I'm pretty sure "hiring" a pro dealer is not a good idea. Ask for friendly dealt game with maybe a dealer there to participate or deal the game yourself. Good Luck! P |

Re: Professional Dealer for a home game?
When I was advertising for my games on craigslist, I got an email from a woman offering her services as dealer. She had done some course and was good to go. I'll probably meet with her soonish to see if she'd be suitable for it.
So try posting in the classifieds. Sure you'll run into freaks, but there are reasonable people there too. Gotta filter. In the long run it's probably not financially viable unless you have a large rotating cast of chip dumpers or a bigger stakes game. |

Re: Professional Dealer for a home game?
Did you ever think about dropping by a dealer school? There's usually plenty of new dealers looking that could use the experience to prepare for an audition. I'm sure you'd find on or tow that would go for $10/hour.
Real dealer = $25/hour, maybe a little less. You could probably offer a straight wage and forget the tipping for small setups. I'm in the A.C. area, $15/hour flat, PM me if interested. |
