slow roll or not?
I was at a deep $2/$5 NL game that had been going on forever, when this happend at my table
Villain - $1900 Hero - $1700 Hero raises to $25 in LP with Ad Jd Villain Calls from the Button with Qd 8d BB Calls (but folds on flop) Flop Jc Td 3d Hero bets $50 Villain raises to $125 Hero Hollywoods and calls Turn Jc Td 3d [5d] Hero takes his time and Checks Villain bets $300 Hero Hollywoods and calls again River Jc Td 3d 5d [9c] Hero thinks for a while and checks (LOL VALUECHECKAMENTS) Villain bets $350 Hero goes into the tank and says "Man, I really thought you had top two pair but now I think you have the flush, or even the straight. I dont see how I can lay this down." he looks pretty upset and confused and finally after about 3 minutes he says, "Well, lets find out" and pushes all-in. Villain insta-calls with the Q high flush and loses to the Hero's nut flush. Here's where it gets interesting. About 4 guys at the table started going off about how it was a cheap BS slowroll by Hero but Villain actually said that if Hero didnt Hollywood so much, especially at the end, then he probably would have been able to lay it down. He said after all of the talk, he put Hero on JJ or TT. He was extremely upset about the hand, but he never complained about being slow rolled. (He wasnt complimenting the Hero however, he just mentioned that he would have folded if he didnt hollywood it) Basically all I said was "you gotta do what you gotta do" How does everyone else see this? |

Re: slow roll or not?
A slow roll is waiting to turn your cards over, letting villan think he has the best hand when you have him beat, then turning them over at the last min. IMO this was not a slowroll.
I don't care much for the whole speach you gave him, but "you gotta go what you gotta do". |

Re: slow roll or not?
You got his money into the middle---perfect.
You didn't call him names, nor slow roll. The 'Hollywood' is more than accepted. Even Doyle gives a little tip on how to 'sell' your hand to steal a pot in a somewhat similar, but not exact, situation. I don't see a problem at all. Well done. |

Re: slow roll or not?
I don't see where any of this could possibly be considered a slow roll. Hollywooding usually costs more than you'll make too.

Re: slow roll or not?
I find this really hilarious and usually obvious when someone moans and groans and then reraises. Even if the part is well played its usually not a good move. Hesitating a little or the like is ok, make them think they spotted something you were trying to hide, if you just put it out there for the oscar your intention is usually pretty clear. BTW this villain calls here without speech im sure.
