Picking Size of Bankroll
I know there are tons of ways you can manage your bankroll but let's say you're an 18 year old college kid and you're picking the size of your bankroll. Obviously you'll need money for education or whatever, but how much % of your worth or money that u have should be your bankroll?

Re: Picking Size of Bankroll
I highly suggest picking up a copy of Professional Poker by Mark Blade. This is a topic he covers at length.

Re: Picking Size of Bankroll
Are you a proven winning player at any limits so far over a sufficient sample size? Poster AKQJ10 always brings this to attention....before asking what bankroll you should have, the first question is to ask yourself whether you are winning player, and at what levels.

Re: Picking Size of Bankroll
depends what game you play.
depends on your winning rates (if at all) depends on your other income. depends on your expenses. however, the answer to everything is "42," so you might want to use that here to. |

Re: Picking Size of Bankroll
I agree with all the posts below. But if you are doing this basically on what you are worth I don't think that that is the best way of looking at things. When I started (age 20) I said I am gonna give poker a go with 1k and if I lose that I won't play anymore. At the same time you have to adhere to proper bankroll management and allow for it to grow. Besides my trip to the WSOP last year I have yet to spend my loot on anything extravagant but I have moved up fairly quickly because of this as well.
Josem is right though "42" is the answer you are looking for. Chicago |
