Logic Question
x-posting this from the Dorm. This may not actually fall into the catergory of a "logic" question so don't jump on me, just a problem for an econ class that i'm probably thinking too much about and is troubling me.
Camille likes Wes better than Giorgio, likes Giorgio and Gustavo equally well, likes Scott and Wes equally well and prefers Scott over Hendrik. Which position does Hendrik take in her heart? the options are: a. 2nd or lower b. 3rd or lower c. 3rd or 5th d. 4th my initial thought is that it's 3rd or lower, but then the 3rd or 5th option got me thinking, but if you think of it that way then it would have to be 3rd or 6th as one option or 2nd or 4th as the option. if scott and wes are equal as well as G and G, then i don't see how 3rd or 5th can the right answer. Basically any of the first three options can be the correct answer, moreso the first two, but we aren't told how we are supposed to look at it, like if two people are equal do they essentially count as 1? thoughts? i'm probably overthinking this a ton, but i just wanted other's input |

Re: Logic Question
B 3rd or lower
i'm stupid he can't be fourth because if he's greater than the G's he is third, if he's equal he's also third, if he's worse he's 5th So the right answer is C fyi. |

Re: Logic Question
To elaborate Wes and Scott are equal at the top. Hendrik must be worse than them but he could be better than giorio and gus, equal to them or worse.
Crap it's C 3 or 5 |

Re: Logic Question
Eh, it seems very unclear to me whether you'd say he's 3rd when he's actually tied with others. Obviously he can't be 4th exactly, but I probably would have just said 3rd or lower. It's a factual statement and has the clearest implications to me. Oh well, whatever. Hopefully you match your teacher's answer on this ill-defined question.

Re: Logic Question
It's 3rd or 5th.
Nothing stated implies that she couldn't like Henrik AS MUCH as Giorgio and Gustavo (which would be a 3-way tie for 3rd), and still negate the possibility of liking any of the 5 characters fourth-best, which leaves only 3rd, or 5th. |

Re: Logic Question
I think the answer is not enough information. There is no reason to believe that the preference of poeple is transitive
