Good book to learn to play PL Omaha?
I'm a NL Hold 'em player, but the guys in my home game love PL Omaha and insist on playing a few rounds of it each time we get together.
What's a good book to read to get my PL Omaha game up to speed? (I've already read the chapter in SuperSystem 2) |

Re: Good book to learn to play PL Omaha?
Omaha Poker by Bob Ciaffone is considered the best first read for Pot Limit Omaha.
Some recommend How Good Is Your Pot Limit Omaha by Stewart Rueben, but I didn't like it at all. Pot Limit & No Limit Poker by both Ciaffone and Rueben would be very helpful as a second read. Once you read Omaha Poker and PL&NLP and get more playing experience, you can then read the best book available on PLO. Unfortunately, many people in this forum (and they're a grumpy bunch) cringe at the mere mention of this book so I will refrain from doing it here. There aren't many books on PLO available so if you do a search on this forum or on Amazon, you should be able to figure out the book that must not be named. |

[/ QUOTE ] The book's fine, so it has that one chapter on $!%#stacking, other than that it's really a pretty decent book. It'd be like not watching Doogie Howser because Doogie's gay. |

Re: Good book to learn to play PL Omaha?
its basically a long running joke that i feel has gone too far. It's because players feel cheated since they are buying in for full stacks and others are hit and running with shorter stacks.
It's a different type of strategy, just adjust and dont worry about it. |

Re: Good book to learn to play PL Omaha?
The only book I ever read before I started playing PLO was Hellmuth's awful awful POS. As bad as it was, it taught me at least some of the fundamentals. The rest just came with experience.
