Casino Royale to be shown in China uneditted
I can't remember who, but there is a 2p2 poster who always claims that Asia (especially China) will bring a new boom to poker. This post is for him. The HE scene may introduce hundreds of millions of ppl to nlhe.
BBC: Bond in China Some quotes: "Casino Royale is expected to perform well" "The film is to be shown at more than 1,000 cinemas - the widest release ever for a foreign film in China." "It will be screened unedited in all major Chinese cities and numerous smaller towns." |

Re: Casino Royale to be shown in China uneditted
Oliver posted this back in late November. However, I'd like to know what he thinks about ESPN/Star Sports being pulled off the air (for the moment) in China.

Oliver posted this back in late November. However, I'd like to know what he thinks about ESPN/Star Sports being pulled off the air (for the moment) in China. [/ QUOTE ] Kevin: I am working my sources who have much closer connections to NewsCorp/Rupert Murdoch to try to figure out what Mr. Murdoch and/or his lieutenants running ESPN STAR Sports (ESS) did to provoke the mainland Chinese government to: 1. have government-owned GuangDong Television (GDTV) outbid ESPN STAR Sports (ESS) for the video rights to ESS' "crown jewel" live events programming on weekends, namely English Premier League (EPL) soccer; and... 2. revoke ESS' cable TV licenses in China to operate ESPN China (which has been available to the masses since 2005 and STAR Sports Asia (which is only available at hotels and foreigner residence compounds). I had anticipated ESS to eventually be the rightsholder to the WSOP in the Chinese-speaking word whenever ESS becomes ready to license the WSOP from ESPN, Inc. for 24 countries and territories in Asia spanning from Pakistan to South Korea (but not Japan, where Sumitomo-managed J SPORTS, which operates J SPORTS ESPN, will be the exclusive WSOP TV licensee). Obviously, with the ESPN China TV channel now literally having been wiped off the face of the earth by the mainland Chinese government, the business has changed in a big way. |
