Default SH O8 Limit hand

I'm trying to get better at O8. Please help. All streets up for debate.

3/6 5 handed

Open raiser is pretty fearless/aggressive when we play heads up but seems to adjust quite well as more players are added (It seems - I'm no O8 expert).

Other players are unknowns

Anyway,

Known player opens UTG, 1 cold caller and I cold call on the button with

A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

The SB folds and BB calls.

4 to the flop. 4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

BB checks. PFR bets and the first cold caller calls, I .....

Easy muck here?

I wouldn't call it 'easy' but I think it's a fold. It is a tough situation though because you are in pretty good shape here against a variety of AAxx hands, which I would expect are part of pfr's range. I wouldn't say that calling is terrible, especially against an aggressive player.

I'd take another card short handed here. You still can scoop here, maybe with as little as a offsuit J on the turn, and a blank river.

3-bet preflop and use your position to make the rest of the hand easier. This is a reasonably strong hand for 6-max.

If you 3-bet preflop I would bet the flop and see how raiser and caller react. If they both call I would check behind on the turn unless you improve.

As played, I peel one and hope for a 2, 4, or J.

3-betting PF has some merits, but I wouldn't do it here. I'd definately peel the flop for 1 bet here in a SH game, and then you gotta play good on the turn (and river).

this is not a fold.

you've got the second nut low draw, a pair, and a backdoor nut flush draw to go with your gutshot wheel draw.

this is going to be a spot where you'll often wind up w/ the best of it at the river when you make the second nut low and get half. this is also a spot where you're shown the nut low a fair % of the time at showdown, but overall it's profitable.

peel this flop.

there are a ton of cards that really improve your hand. any deuce obv. but also any club that doesn't pair the board. you can make trips, and i'd also feel confident about making jacks up on the turn and being ahead of most hands.

i have a feeling you probably are evaluating your play in this hand b/c you made some sort of hand and got scooped, but if you run this hand a few 1000 times you're going to be a winner with it.

if the turn comes an offsuit K or Q you've got a double gutshot as well.

easy peel, esp. getting those odds (8:1 or something?)

I 3 bet preflop about 50% of time.. and there is no way in hell that's a fold on that flop.. i'd raise flop pretty often too so i can take control of the hand.. take a free card on turn if need be or whatever.
