I'm only talking about making notes on how many time they bet or call per orbit.
I usually wait till level 3 or 4 (BB 50 or 100) before counting, as 1st or 2nd round I find people usually throw in a few random hands while the blinds are small. Does this sound correct or should i be taking a note of it right from start ? |

That is usually enough time to weed out some of the craziness. |

[/ QUOTE ] if you're worried about them playing differently depending on the level, then just note the level next to your notes. Any notes that help you win a tourny or accumulate chips, are a good thing, right? If you are facing villain in this tourney in level 2, what makes you think that your notes on his play in level 2 won't help you next tourny in similar levels. |

I try to rate players as tight/weak/loose etc., i find this helps me more than counting number of bets etc - although i do take note of this to help me rate players. Key hands crop up which are particulary useful.

regarding MTT's I have been playing the $15k and $10k rebuy tourneys - I like to write what they have when they put their chips in the middle, so I'll make a note on them if they go all in the first hand.
I mainly play SNGs, and I start taking notes on the first hand. In general, I try to reread each large pot that takes place on every talbe I am playing (4 tabling). |

I don't make notes on people, well other than mental ones. However, it might be a good idea to start. I like the idea of writing down a few hand types you see them playing.

[/ QUOTE ] I do the same, mental notes. I dont like to rely on the notes online since I feel it might mess up my live play where I dont have notepads and pens sitting around. I also dont multitable like some of you guys do. One table and one tourney at a time for me. |

I don't take notes either. Some people act like they really make a big difference. Quite frankly, I don't buy it.

For me notes don't do much in the same tournament, but later on it helps me quickly identify the fish/ sharks/ their tendencies if I see them again.
