Angel Largay - Preflop Play with AK
Hello
Largey advise in his book that limping with AK preflop, same with the bigPair's. I'm agree by the BigPairs, but with AK I think a raise is better for reduce the opponents. By limp with AA or KK the goal by liming is the reraise, but with AK? What think you about the limping with AK preflop? |

Re: Angel Largay - Preflop Play with AK
That advice sounds -to be polite- dubious to me.
Never limp with AK. Rarely limp with AKs in early position with the intention to reraise. AK is just an Ace high hand and can't stand much action. If too many opponents see the flop even TPTK might not be good anymore at the river. |

Re: Angel Largay - Preflop Play with AK
Largay say, that the most money in LLNL-Games you make with AK if you play with a Opponent you have a Ax-Hand and the Flop come with a A. This is correct, but I think its the better play against a single opponent when a Flop come with Axx because the danger of two pair.
But why advise Largay in his book the limping with AK, do I oversee somethings? |

Re: Angel Largay - Preflop Play with AK
This is just my understanding and I'm still learning but limping with AK might draw in A* hands with a lower kicker that might fold if you raised preflop, especially if an ace falls on the flop and your oponent believes that his ace is the best (why would he put you on AK, after all you didn't raise pre flop). Same situation with a King, you're still outkicking other K* that may have folded had you raised.
If you miss the flop it's an easy hand to get way from. I don't think he suggested that you limp with the intention of reraising at all. He actually suggests that it all depends on the situation, I've had some joy limping with AK more often than not at the micro levels. |

Re: Angel Largay - Preflop Play with AK
I call in LP with several limpers in deep stack NL almost every time with AK, even against TAGs. Both the LAGs and the TAGs are giving you high implied odds because they have reading problems ...
That's a difficult issue but I like the approach of small-balling AK under certain circumstances. |

Re: Angel Largay - Preflop Play with AK
In my home game if Im raised and in posistion i might just call with ak against one MAYBE two opp. if my opponent has a hand like aj aq im gong to crush him, but this is situation specific. utg how ever im not allowing a bunch of fugazi hands in when im sitting with a pot equity edge with ak or aa-qq. I didnt like largays book at all. I should have spent my time re-reading nltap, hoh vol1 or many of the other great nl titles, for the 10t time.

Re: Angel Largay - Preflop Play with AK
danger with limping with AK is flop is A/2/7 and your opponent has A7. Even raising you have the idiots who will still have A7/but it reduces those amounts.
