I snapcall [/ QUOTE ] This was my 1st instinct and i probably should have done just that but I seem to lose my stack constantly playing TPTK hands and overpair hands. How long did it take you experienced guys not to contsntly lose your stack overplaying marginal hands like TPTK or overpairs? I know it will happen once in a while but it seems constant to me. |

[/ QUOTE ] One of the easiest way to get stacked is overpair vs set. Knowing when to minimize losses and get away from overpairs in this situation is ultimately going to affect your winrate pretty heavily. I think this situation is not indicative of a set because villain overbet shoved over your cbet. From my experiences, when someone flops a set in this situation they'll raise 3-4X your cbet (if they're good) or do something retarded like min-raise (if they're bad). In most scenarios, the overbet shove is some sort of flush draw/maybe a combo draw or an idiot tilting and shoving a missed pocket pair or something like A9 |

[/ QUOTE ] It takes a lot of work - you have to be able to know when to play small pots vs. big pots depending on the opponent, board texture, etc.Of course here, you didn't really have any control over that .In this hand, it's a very drawy board, and this push from many opponents means a good draw, like a pair and a flush draw, etc you're about a coinflip against. Some opponents will also play an overpair like this here. And occasionally, you'll see a set or 2 pair you're drawing thin against, but probably not very often. Overall, you're getting the odds you need against his hand range to gamble here. |
